Submission
Submission of a paper implies acceptance of the following conditions:
(1) the paper reports unpublished work;
(2) the paper is not being submitted to any other journal;
(3) you are fully authorised to submit the material for publication;
(4) if accepted, the paper will not be republished without the consent of the publishers.
Papers should be submitted as Word files, in rich text format (rtf), or as PDFs, by email to the editorial assistant at jan.parsons@geog.cam.ac.uk. All figures should be merged in the document and should be low resolution (note: higher-resolution figures will be required once the paper is accepted, see Acceptance below).
Papers should be written in English, in nonsexist, nonracist language.
Please provide a word count for the article. Papers should be double-spaced with 12-point font size. They should be no longer than 7500 words or 35 pages (double-spaced text, size 12 Roman font) and should contain a short abstract of no more than 150 words; the abstract should not be repeated in the first paragraph.
A separate title page, with full contact details (including email addresses) of all authors, should be attached. This will be detached during the refereeing stage to maintain the anonymity of the author. If the first author is not the contact author this should be clearly indicated. Identifying information should not be included in PDF files.
Papers should be formatted as per the style guidelines provided below, and particular attention should be paid to the style of references and accepted figure formats. The editor's decision is final, and acceptance of a paper for publication implies assignment of copyright to Pion Ltd.
Style
All papers will be copyedited in accordance with the house style of Pion Ltd. Spelling is subject to Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.

Mathematics
If mathematics feature in the manuscript, care should be taken that they are formatted as per our mathematics style.
Acceptance
Upon acceptance, separate higher-resolution electronic versions of the figures (in the allowed formats described above, with at least 300dpi resolution for greyscale TIFFs, and at least 600dpi resolution for black and white TIFFs) are required. These should be sent, along with a single-sided, double-spaced hard copy of the accepted manuscript, including all figures and tables, to the publishers, Pion Ltd, at the following address:-
Dr Jan Schubert
Pion Ltd
207 Brondesbury Park
London, NW2 5JN.
Please note that this hard copy will be used to copyedit and typeset the published paper, and it is therefore essential that it is the same as the accepted electronic version and that all mathematical symbols, figures, and tables are correctly rendered.
Papers will be copyedited, typeset, and proofread, after which proofs will be sent to the contact author.
Upon publication of the paper, the main author will receive a pdf of the published version and a copy of the issue in which the paper appears.
